The Body Course
A cyclical exploration of body, mind, and beyond
What this course is about..
Here, I present you with tools to decipher the language of your body. Symptoms - be they pain, lethargy, or illness - can be thought of as ways the body communicates with us in response to its surroundings. Curiosity about our bodies can teach us patterns that are reflected into all facets of life. Learning to know ourselves can lead us to love ourselves more deeply, allowing us to shine our gifts out into the world.
This Course combines knowledge of our physical systems (the musculoskeletal architecture, the function and interplay of the organs, the power of the nervous system) with the creation and nurturing of daily habits (movement, strengthening, meditation and breath). The Course’s structure encourages flowing with the tides of the seasons, and the internal cycles we each experience.
An amalgamation of eastern and western thought, it is meant to provide tastes of different ideas and modalities. In a world of hyper-specialization, this is the big picture overview. It invites you to dive deeper into what speaks to you, and to interpret where your intuition is drawing you.
Why you might be interested
in my perspective..
I have always questioned everything, looking for patterns and narratives and reasons why. Growing up with severe spinal curvature (scoliosis), and a connective tissue disorder, my body demanded that I seek answers. When drowning my pain didn’t work, when doctors shrugged their shoulders, when my mind tormented me, when my life fell to pieces, all that was left was to figure out another way. A way of flow, awareness, and inquisitiveness.
Philosophy taught me to choose joy, again and again. My studies in engineering taught me how to solve problems, and how materials work (it turns out the body is not so different than anything else). Having been raised in a family of teachers, artists, laborers, and gardeners, I believe in telling stories, illustrating ideas, working hard, and nurturing deeply.
For the past ten years I’ve immersed myself in learning - puzzling together what I’ve found in books, research papers, my own body, and the hundreds of people I have had the privilege of working with as they pursued strength and wellbeing in their bodies.
Who this course is for..
This Course is for anyone who loves to understand the “why” behind things. Who knows that their lives would be more fulfilled if they explored their physical self more completely. It’s for people who have felt out of place, overwhelmed, lost, or tired. Who have tried what they heard would help them feel better, but came up short. For anyone who craves routine, but can’t seem to find it. Whose body yearns to be explored, but resists it.
Perhaps they have pieces of the puzzle, but the context is missing. Busy lives struggle to find the space and time for what’s needed. And maybe the exhaustion of performing wellness has set in.
This Curriculum has been created for those who wish to be surrounded by others on the same path, who want to share ideas, learn new ways of framing things, and bring all the floating ideas together into a cohesive picture.
What’s in this course
(the curriculum)..
Each month, we will gather for two group meetings - one for the Lesson, and another to Integrate the ideas, share experiences, and deepen our understanding.
Small daily practices will be outlined and encouraged, offering flexible choices that can be woven into any life, gently shaping lasting habits.
Every lesson is accompanied by a written summary, blending anatomy and physiology with deeper insights on how to support and nurture these areas.
Each month revolves around a theme - an area of the body to explore, mirrored by a corresponding aspect of the mind.
To complement the lessons, a set of guided movements will be provided in video format. These sequences range from strength-building to softening—stretching, self-myofascial release, and mindful movement—each reinforcing the month’s theme.
Course topics are subject to evolution/change throughout
For those enrolling in the In-Person version of the course, the journey begins with a 90-minute Deep Dive Introduction session with Hannah. This is a space to explore your history, unravel personal patterns, and receive tailored recommendations - laying the foundation for personalized support throughout the year.
At the year’s end, each participant will receive another 90-minute Closing session to bring the whole picture together - celebrating growth, integrating insights, and mapping a path forward.
Hannah will also be available by email and for add on one-on-one sessions as needed, offering ongoing support and guidance.
The Body Course FAQs
-
The Body Course is a combination of self-guided at home work and pre-recorded videos, including recordings of monthly in person Lessons.
Additionally, an Online Only version is available for those who are not local to Soft Space/Somerville MA.
-
The Body Course has been designed as an In Person offering, including two monthly Group Meetings and Lessons and two total 1:1 Meetings with Hannah for each individual enrolled - this is in addition to videos of the Movements of the Month, and recordings of the Group Meetings and Lessons to refer back to.
Due to the more high touch nature of the full In Person course, spaces are limited.
Recognizing that not everyone who is interested in enrolling may be local, there will be an Online Only version (at a somewhat reduced price point) that will include all the video content and written materials, but does not include live in person meetings (recordings only), nor the 1:1 Meetings with Hannah.
We are happy to discuss any further questions you may have on this topic!
And you can see a Compare and Contrast chart here.
-
You will see the themes from various modalities inform how we look at each area of the body.
Rather than studying each modality individually, you will hear certain modes of analysis credited in discussion.
For instance, the categorization of tissue states (hot, cold, wet, dry) and what those conditions tend to enjoy rooted in Ayurvedic practice as well as Chinese Medicine and Western Herbalism.
Or the focus on alignment and subtle balance in the body found in the Feldenkrais Method, Alexander Technique, and Tai Chi.
In terms of mental health and trauma, we will focus largely on neuroplasticity and the ways the brain can relearn things when met with compassion rather than fought with guilt.
If you have further specific questions about something you would like to see, please let me know! This program will evolve for as long as it exists :)
-
I plan to compile a source library, but I need your help! When you hear something that strikes you and would like further explanation on where that idea came from, please let me know.
Over time I aim to build a reference guide that includes scholarly articles, books, thought processes, and more.

All my offerings are priced based on a combination of the time and energy I expend on the offering, along with how many people the offering can reach.
All payment installments for the year-long Course will be billed month by month by default, but a paid in full option will be available for those who prefer that.
The full In Person Body Course will be available for $225/mo standard rate, and for $325/mo for those who would like to support a scholarship fund to allow those who might otherwise not be able to afford it to enroll at a reduced rate.
The Online Only version of the Body Course will be available for $125/mo standard rate, and for $175/mo supporter rate.
Scholarship options at a reduced rate will depend on the amount of people who choose the Supporter membership rate, as well as budget conversations with Hannah. I hope to strike the balance between the work that I am putting into this, and making enrollment possible for anyone who would like to be here - so please don’t hesitate to add your name to the Waitlist, and mention if a scholarship option is something you’d like to explore.
-
We strongly recommend sticking with The Body Course for at least 12 months in order to experience each module/area of the body. Often, areas we haven’t thought to explore yield incredible discoveries.
With that said, we understand that life happens - so if something comes up and you need to change your enrollment status, please reach out to discuss how we can best move forward.
The Body Course is also not limited to just 12 months. You are welcome to re-enroll and stay with us as we move through the next year’s cycle. The lessons will continue to evolve with us, and there is always benefit to structure and consistency.
-
All of our offerings are meant to be mixed and matched - they all go hand in hand with each other.
The Body Course does have daily strengthening movements (videos for at home practice) that may contain light weights that can be substituted with home objects.
Strength Classes remain an important way to utilize resistance and build resilience. Hannah’s Strength Classes will weave in the concepts from The Body Course and vice versa - these two offerings will mutually support each other.
The same is true of Mobility Classes - while we do often discuss anatomy and broader concepts, Mobility Classes are primarily meant as a time to explore myofascial release and other ways of soothing the physical systems. The time itself, dedicated solely to that purpose and to being with each other is what makes that offering special. It will go well with The Body Course.
However, if you find yourself getting enough restorative time at home, The Body Course will give you plenty of tools and skills to practice on your own.
Ultimately the decision of which offerings to enroll in is yours, and if you would like to discuss, please send us a message!
-
The two monthly meetings (Lesson and Integration) will be held on weekend afternoons - whether they’ll be on Saturday or Sunday has not yet been decided. Recordings will be available in case you miss a session (and to all Online Only Body Course enrollees).
Deep Dive Intro and Closing 1:1 sessions will be scheduled individually and will include weekday and weekend availability.
